We often focus on diet and exercise to promote healthy aging, but socialization plays a significant role in our overall health and wellness. A strong social life has been linked to various health benefits, including reducing the risk of depression, increasing longevity, and promoting cognitive functioning. The Pavilion Senior Living proudly offers senior living services, rehabilitation, and long-term care options throughout Tennessee and West Virginia. Our mission is to improve the quality of life of those we serve and encourage connection and socialization within our communities.
Through compassionate, person-centered care, engagement opportunities, and socialization promoting technology, we are determined to ensure that no one feels alone at The Pavilion Senior Living.
Our Caregiving Team
Our mission throughout each of our senior living and long-term care communities in Tennessee and West Virginia is to provide high-quality services to residents, guests, and families. We focus on providing care tailored to meet the unique physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of every individual in our communities. At The Pavilion Senior Living, we aim to be the most trusted provider of senior care services.
Each of our caregivers and team members is selected for their knowledge, experience, and compassion. Our caregivers genuinely care about each resident and do everything they can to ensure that every individual feels valued. Through compassionate care services and interacting with residents, our caregivers make sure the members of our communities never feel alone.
Family Engagement
Spending time with friends and family is a big part of meaningful socialization. Unfortunately, the recent global climate surrounding COVID-19 has made these visitations limited or restricted at senior living and long-term care communities across the country. With guidelines in place to promote health and safety, we found new ways for residents to visit with their family and loved ones!
Many of our assisted senior living apartments are equipped with a covered, screened-in porch, providing a safe way for families to see and hear one another while following all safety guidelines and regulations. Family members and friends can bring chairs and sit outside the screen while the individual stays comfortable on their porch.
These “porch visits” have been instrumental in helping The Pavilion Senior Living make sure each of our residents never feels alone.
Socialization Opportunities
A 2019 study published in The Journals of Gerontology “found that older adults who interacted with people beyond their usual social circle of family and close friends were more likely to have higher levels of physical activity, greater positive moods, and fewer negative feelings (health.harvard.edu).”
One of the many benefits of senior living communities is that they offer residents and guests the chance to meet, connect, and build relationships with peers and individuals outside their typical social circle.
In addition to finding new ways to connect residents and their families, we also adjusted how we host activities and events within our communities to continue to connect residents with one and another. In line with social distancing guidelines, we have gone virtual!
Residents can still participate in mentally and physically stimulating activities, but they are doing so virtually instead of in-person to ensure both team member and resident safety.
Implemented Technology at The Pavilion Senior Living
Throughout each of our senior living and long-term care communities in Tennessee and West Virginia, we have implemented new technologies that improve socialization and help prevent isolation and feelings of loneliness.
Traditionally, visitors at senior living communities sign in on a paper log. While this is useful for necessary documentation, it is not an efficient way to evaluate who is in the community in real-time. Additionally, this form of visitor logging makes it nearly impossible to track which residents are getting visitors.
A new technology, The Love Meter with Accushield, has helped senior living communities, like The Pavilion Senior Living, track which residents are getting visitors and which residents are not. “The Love Meter is a data point pulled from the community visitor history that gives management the ability to see the least visited residents in the building (accushield.com).”
By implementing the Love Meter, our team is able to pinpoint which individuals in our communities may need a little extra love and support to prevent isolation and ensure that no resident feels alone.
We have made it a priority to improve engagement and socialization throughout our communities. Our goal is to provide an environment where residents feel loved and part of The Pavilion family.
